I began working with Imago Theatre on La Belle as it entered its fabrication phase. Not only were we creating a spectacle of color and texture, we were engineering magic. As I tour nationally with the production, I love hearing the awe and wonder in the reaction of the kids. 

Stories Around the Globe

Rupert tells the story of New Zealand natives on an adventure to discover who we are. Working internationally gave me the chance to explore not only the country's puppetry but also its unique culture. The Kiwi bird, the Tui, and the Grub are all classic NZ animals; the stories they share can cross borders. 

Puppets are Everywhere

Puppets are for kids. And adults. They are funny. They are serious. They are every single human characteristic whittled down and strung up. They are on TV. They are in the theater. They are rockstars. And sales clerks. They are scientific copycats. They are imaginative fantastical beasts. Because a puppet can be anyone formed from anything, there is no limit to their creativity. This is a selection of my puppets from film and theater using a variety of materials and techniques.
